OVERVIEW
We’re looking for a culturally in-tune Copywriter and Social Media Manager who understands the power of local voice and digital storytelling. You should be equally comfortable writing witty captions in English or Portuguese, jumping into comment sections with confidence, and building content calendars that connect with everyday people. This role combines sharp copywriting with solid social media execution. You’ll support content planning, community management, and client relationships—especially across our Mozambique-based accounts.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Copywriting & Content Planning
- Write fresh, on-brand copy for social media, digital campaigns, and platform-native content
- Assist in the development and implementation of content calendars across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.)
- Ensure content is culturally relevant and speaks to local audiences in both tone and language
- Work closely with design and strategy teams to translate briefs into strong copy and campaign ideas
2. Social Media Management
- Schedule and publish content across platforms
- Keep a pulse on local and regional trends and advise on how brands should show up
- Help maintain tone and voice consistency across all social touchpoints
3. Community Management
- Respond to queries and comments across social platforms in a way that reflects the brand
- Flag and escalate customer service issues as needed
- Build trust and connection with online communities, especially for lifestyle, health, and wellness brands
4. Reporting & Optimisation
- Track basic metrics like engagement, reach, and follower growth
- Assist with compiling monthly reports and campaign recaps
- Provide local insights and recommendations based on what’s working
5. Collaboration & Culture
- Work closely with the broader creative and strategy team to ensure alignment
- Offer local context during brainstorms and pitch processes
- Contribute ideas and insights to help shape culturally relevant campaigns
Required Skills & Experience
- 1 - 4 years of experience writing for brands or managing social platforms
- Strong command of both English and Portuguese (or other widely spoken Mozambican languages)
- Excellent copywriting skills across different tones—playful, informative, aspirational
- Familiarity with content management tools (e.g. Meta Business Suite, Buffer)
- Understanding of digital culture in Mozambique, especially TikTok and Facebook behaviour
